Question thicker grips?

Hello!
I got SV650S two weeks ago. Today I got a first ride for 140 miles. Everything is fine except my right hand. It feels numb. I did not get this feeling before when I did 25 miles rides.
I would like to install thicker grips on my motorcycle. What would you recommend? Is it possible to find some soft grips?
Thank you!

P.S. I wear gloves and my hand size is 11 (or 12?)

Thicker grips helped me out. I went for the best of both worlds and fitted Oxford heated grips. They are thicker and, as the name suggests, heated which is great in the winter and not a problem in the summer as you just turn them off returning them to just thicker grips. also dead usefull for early starts adn late finishes when it gets suprisingly chilly.

I went all through the winter this year on summer gloves. Did have to fit some DL650 hand guards in the really cold bits, but would prefer to have the bike looking a bit uglier but having the feel of summer gloves rather than riding in winter gloves which give all the feel of riding while wearing oven gloves.

Also, don't know how experienced a rider you are, but if you grip the bars too tightly you will get all sorts of aches and pains. Realx as much as possible and keep your arms loose and most of this just vanishes. However that's easier said thean done when getting used to a new bike.

True, I still find myself gripping to hard and stiff at the elbows - gets to be a real pain.

Hello!
Thank you for all the advices. Sorry for not so quick reply from my side...

I have not ride motorcycle for about 6 years. It is possible that I am holding the bar too tight. I will try to relax. Today I have not ride and probably I am not going to this week. I want my right hand to become normal. In the mean time I want to ask you some questions:

1. What size of grips should I buy? How long? What the diameter?
I have Suzuki SV650S 2007
2. I am looking to this page:
http://www.progrip.com/default.asp?tip=6&ite=gri
I think about 860. Is it possible to fit them to my motorcycle?
3. Where can I get the instructions of how to install the grips (pictures would be great)?

Thank you!

P.S. Can you tell me what is the size of standard grips that coming with my motorcycle? I know I can measure it, but I am not really sure how they do it...

You should really be looking at the Super Bike page, although I belive th 22-24 mm dia ones will fit. Titting is just a case of removing the old ones and replacing with new. Be careful of the throttle tube its quite fragile.

I was looking for heated grips, but I think I am not really need it. When cold or rain I am going to drive my car.
So, is it any way to install "860 Foam Cruiser Grip" from ProGrip? Or 862 model?
How long the replacment grip should be? 120mm or 130mm? Can anyone else confirm if the diameter of 22-24mm correct?
Thank you!
