Re: Here's a little story:
It sounds like you're back on track and making good progress. :D Don't forget it's still hard work riding the bike at the moment. So plan to stop from time to time so you don't get tired and make mistakes.
Hopefully you'll both consider coming down for the annual ride (AR09) this summer. It'll be my first and I don't fancy being the only newbie there. Keith. |

Re: Here's a little story:
Tiger55 told me your story earlier and I was gutted for you. My OH has been nothing but supportive and full of encouragement even when some old ar*e wanted to knock me off when I was learning. There were a couple of times I thought I'd just not bother but thanks to Tiger55 and my good pal Shonadoll it's been a great learning experience. So almost 2 years on, couple of laps at Knockhill today with the Breast Way Round GIRLS and another 400 odd miles next month with a hundred other girls on bikes round the West coast of Scotland for MacMillan I'm getting there. You should get out with other people, plenty of us out there willing to go for a jaunt! Don't be shy, chuck a couple of posts out and suggest a rideout! Oh, and I dropped my bike last week! Crash bungs are great! :D

Re: Here's a little story:
superb, your OH is a real man after all.
well done to him, and yourself for such a good ride out. |
Re: Here's a little story:
It wasnt just brave of your OH Fenjer....it was brave of you too. It is perfectly natural to want to protect those we love and it is also perfectly normal for people to go a little too far sometimes which I why I said to ASK him for a copy of the keys, not leave him. Your OH was being unreasonable, but it was clearly due to his desire to keep you safe as he obviously loves you enough to be able to read the slating he's had on here, apologise and want to move on and help you.
Good on both of you and I hope he registers on here too. He'll have plenty of support, both in his own right and because we all now know that he is willing, as any decent person should be, to recognise when they do something silly. We all do from time to time. |

Re: Here's a little story:
glad this has worked out fenjer. nearly posted earlier but glad i didnt now. Get yourself along to a run with the ecosse guys and gals. best thing i ever did. Katesv650 is just down the road from you, if you dont feel up to a "group ride yet" i'm sure a couple of us could come and meet you and go as far and as slow as you feel up to, your oh is welcome as well by the way. Hopefully the weekly meet will start up again soon, but you dont have to wait for that.
Couple of points, that may have been mentioned already but just skimmed the thread. NEVER try to keep up with someone else, always ends badly. Always ride for yourself, your speed, your line, your space, your ability. If you ever feel uncomfortable or under pressure, pull over and stop, gather yourself and then go again. the "more competent / experienced" rider should be following rather than leading, (unless demonstrating) otherwise they cant observe. Like i said, come along to a meet or post up one yourself, alternatively pm a couple of folks that have offered and go for a wee run. Take your own time out there and enjoy it. |
