all runs were within 1hp.

what octane fuel did you compare with?

pump fuel and U4 oxygenated, tried with both.
not sure how our fuel compares to your, our pump fuel is rated 91.

our standard fuel is 95RON, our priemium is 98RON, and certain stations can supply 102RON,
i believe as standard the sv is setup to run on 91, and a 4 degree offset optimises the timing for 95RON, to see the benifits of any higher octan fuel you would have to advance further than 4 degrees.

our 91 is equal to your 95.just different rating used.

U4 I tested is higher and race fuel.
like I said,I tried.you might get different results.

The JHS dyno runs show different, mind. Though I trust Zadar over JHS tbh ;) I did feel a difference in the lower end, none up top, but I wouldn't rule out that being placebo.

(my theory- placebo horsepower you can feel is better than real horsepower you can't on a road bike where the actual numbers are irrelevant).

I do have a puller again, my last one did the rounds and then vanished, but if you need it you're welcome to a lend.

Good morning.

Fine pitches on larger diameter threads are a blinkin' pain!
Something I've been doing for years is to go to a good breakers yard & see if you can find something like a wheel or swinging arm spindle which has the thread you require.
Kawasaki GT550/750's & Yamaha XJ900's have their swinging arms mounted on adjuster studs which, from memory are around the diameter you require, & are definitely of a fine pitch. If one of these was of a suitable thread you would have to get a nut welded on in order to use it as a puller.
Alternatively you could try a car breakers, as a lot of car engines have quite a large diameter fine pitch bolt retaining the bottom pulley to the crankshaft.

Cheers.

I have to admit, I just bought the Suzuki one rather than spend the time looking, I figure if it takes me a couple of hours to find it then it would have been easier to do some overtime and just buy it

But where is the fun/reward in that?!?!

adam_castell - don't expect a marked difference, it might make a bit more in the mid, but I doubt enough you'd notice!!

Unless you have your heart set on doing this, I'd say it is major hassle for minimal gains ... do you really want to be taking crankcases off, draining oil ... replacing gaskets disturbing bolts ... ?? If you love to fettle then go for it, if you are doing it for performance only, then I think you might be disappointed.

You would probably get better performance gains dropping some new plugs in and taking it down the dyno and getting it to run 100% correctly ...

If you think about it, the SV have a retard in 2nd and 3rd, I am not sure how many degrees it is retarded by (probably in the order of 4??) - do the TRE mod and you don't get the retard. I have done that and how much REAL difference does it make??? ... v-little ... to be honest I noticed NO detectable difference ... I haven't ridden an SV with an advance key, but I can extrapolate from the TRE mod to guess it will make very little difference ...

Have you done the TRE mod BTW? ;)

Is that the one that lets you run 9 second quarters? :-P

IMO it'll make some difference (on a dyno at least), but make it more sensetive to bad fuel, slight leanness, fouled plugs, etc.
The actual mod looks simple enough, but is it worth it?

I noticed no difference at all from the TRE mod, but I did notice a difference for the advancer. But that's maybe just the butt dyno for you
