Silence!

I ride an SV, the bloody horn doesn't work once the engine's warmed up.

+1 though at the moment it doesn't want to work at all! Think the switch gear is playing up!

I do it all the time!

Mind you, I have twin 10 inch air horns! Ooohhhhh feel the power!!!!

Quite.

I normally use it when on the Motorway and a car pulls into my lane, normally because I'm in his blind spot. A toot on the horn to let him know I am there normally saves me for having to take avoiding action. I too have an aftermarket loud horn. Other than that I don't really use it. Unless saying ta ta to someone as I leave.

Every day ;)
When people tail gate I'll slow down and beep at them, when people aren't paying attention at traffic lights, when people pull out in front of me without indicating on motorways, when old women take ages to cross the road ;)

I learn to drive in a fiat though so it's not my fault.

I used to use it to shout at people, but now I use it when filtering to warm people I'm coming, and I use it when there is a lorry or a bus and the driver might not have checked his mirror, or I might be in the blind spot overtaking and he has put the indicator on to pull out.

Occasionaly use it to remind people to put their lights on at night

Its a bit pathetic though, my horn. It sort of goes up and down in tone like its running on flattening batteries

+1. I like pulling alongside their window and drowning out their conversation. :D

Re: Use of horn

I use the horn on blind bends on single track roads - always - saved myself several accidents in the car and on the bike with that.

Also when you see someone (typically a car driver but sometimes a pedestrian) about to do something dumb - change lane, pull out, u-turn, open their door, step out, etc. and then the length of blast depends on how dumb they appear.

A ped who starts wandering off to the edge of the road without looking gets a short toot, as does someone coming up to a junction if they're not looking my way. Someone who's already stepping or pulling out without looking gets a full 3 second blast, and so on. I don't use it as much as I should - around town you should probably use it frequently, yet it's easy to rely on the other person to look.
