I guess you have your answer.

Oh yes mine is a wait as well.

I never wait, even have bought with just 2 weeks till the new reg. You get the bike early, miss the rush for the first service, get a better deal etc etc.

However, in your case, its just a few days, so I'd wait, avoid paying a months tax just for those few days.

For the resale value - yes, wait, like others have said. But if you get an 08 plate, then it looks like an 'O' 'B' and could end up reading something like:

GNO8

At least with 57, you're safe!

What are you getting BTW?

I was highly disappointed that the KN prefix is removed from sale for the 08 plate. Try it.

Edit: BO has been removed for 08 as well! However I have managed to come up with MO08 GUY for the bargain price of £799.

Oh yeah, I'd wait for an 08, the numbers in Cantonese also sound like 'year rich' in Cantonese.

As I am in London its going to start with an L

Which means on a 57 (if it hasnt already gone, the options are)

LO57 BOY

On 08, could get

LO08 MAN

think I will have to wait -dont see the plate making THAT much of a difference to resale - the docs WILL say its an 08 bike.

Thanks to all who replied.

Go onto the DVLA and request an avilable number, doesn't have to be a London number, that is just the dealers options

There's a link in my post above, I have hours of fun (not really) checking whether someone's bought my next plate (which they have, grrr) and funny combinations.

My niece just got a £1k plate for her car... and my sister also has had a personalised numberplate (which doesn't mean a thing unless you speak Cantonese) for ages

Phone call made, bike will now be an 08.

All I really want is ..08 ORK or ..08ORC .............

Re: Whats in a Number (Plate)

MAN is only for the I of Man and even there it is an old number as they have adopted the new format. I nearly bought a car over there 2yrs ago but the hassle to keep the number was having an I of M residence
