I've not had a problem with the reg/rec on any of my SVs 1st had 40k+ miles on it, current one has 31k showing and no problems with that one either

I popped 2 in the same timescale  But the CBR600RR one is still doing just fine. Spannerman recommended the pattern ones over the CBR6 ones, which I thought was interesting, but I've been very hapyp with the Honda one to date.

I got the genuine suzuki part, which when it came was of a differant design to the part that died on my bike - perhaps suzuki noticed the problem and changed the genuine part to suit?

Re: Regulator-rectifier

Having had 2 new RRs fail on me (including one from Electrex) I went for the "other bike manufactrer" solution

I'm currrently running a 98 Fazer regulator on mine. Bolts straight on but needs a bit of "Wire-ectomy" to hook it up.

Time will tell if its any better than the standard one

Electrexworld supply a fitting plate to cover the issues that I had- as long as you specify that it's a Curvy SV, they should supply the plate foc- it comes with all the relevant bolts etc and fits fine, once you work out which way round to fit it.

They appear to have redesigned the unit (Apparently so have Suzuki- at about ?90 more cash) to more efficiently cool the electrics- I think it's the material used for the heatsink, as it's still quite small.
