How much do you think a full respray should be if you do the preparation and take all the bodywork off the bike? I have a pillion seat cowl, and if I was doing that I'd probably buy a belly pan.

Dunno mate, but the guy near me (PSG - who does some stuff for one of the Superbike lads) charged £150 to turn my smashed bikini fairing and smashed rhs fairing into brand new again. Am about to get a quote for just repairing the rear seat fairing, the one that goes from tank to tail light after my off in Anglesey. I got a replacement for a tenner of eBay but plan to get the crack in my old one fixed, as well as plastic rivet holes underneath fixed by the same fella. Will let you know how much, but when I spoke to Pete at PSG he basically said it's cheaper to do a respray than fix and respray and I've been made up with his work.

Give him a ring http://www.cylex-uk.co.uk/company/p-...-16337448.html

Thx for link. I might soon acquire some damaged lowers I want sprayed up.

What kind of preparation is necessary?

Maybe it would if you know where to go or who to ask. But I don't.

Look at this thread, it shows pictures of panels rubbed back and ready for painting, including one that's had filler work done on it. I believe the preparation is the most important bit, must be perfectly smooth 'cos your paint will just take the shape of the panel, it won't cover up any sins, but I also believe getting a perfect glass like finish is not difficult, just lots of rubbing and lots of patience with varying grades of wet & dry. I've never done it myself though.

and SV Rory might me a handy guy to know as he said in the thread he'd do painting jobs for other forum members (for a price I'm sure ;) ). I was going to PM him, but I haven't decided that if I want to fix the bike up yet, and I don't want to waste his time. As a mate said to me on the phone, as it is nobody would want to steal it, and if I spend hundreds of pounds on a respray, I'd probably drop it two weeks later.

Give Pete a ring, explain what condition the lowers are in and ask him for advice about prepping them. It may be that he'll give you a quote for the whole lot in one hit which might be worth not getting your hands dirty. Only one way to find out and that's give him a bell.

Thanks for advice chaps. I don't have the lowers yet so haven't got a good idea of what condition they are in, but I'll post here once I get them.
