I have a K8 and yes, the cat was at the cut. It's only a thin affair though and easily removed with a screwdriver.

I'm still undecided whether to remove the cat or leave it in place? When you cut your K8 exhaust did you cut through the CAT or did you manage to avoid cutting through it by a few mm? Also, I take it you chose to remove the cat with a screwdriver? Would it be OK to leave the CAT in place or do you think it better to just remove the CAT and enjoy the full benefits of the new can.

I fitted a Beowulf last weekend to my 10 plate K9 after much reading and worrying about f'ing up my brand new bike! I cut slightly further away from the weld (about 6.5-7cm) and missed the honeycomb stuff by about 10mm. The link pipe still went down to the weld and the end can slipped on perfectly. looks great and sounds superb rather than the fart in a snowstorm that the stock system gives.

Have to admit I am planning on doing this to my K10 and am a little worried about knacking it up. How easy is the lamda sensor to remove?
