rephrase that check the haynes as my advice is for the underslung curvy rear caliper.
You probably be able to remove the pin and get them out.

Re: squeaky rear brake

the main problem is removing the pin... sometimes they can seize in place and some times need a bit of persuading to come out ie heat and plyiers, it a wheel on job, and is pretty easy job.
search for pad removal on here for more advice.

check the caliper pistons are working and clean, ie no or very little corriosion around them, black brake dust is ok.. Gently push them back into the caliper with a screwdriver... ( notice gently ! on the metal part of the pad not the friction part. ) remove the R clip from the pin, Simply remove the pin and remove the pads, Check for wear and apply a thin coating of copper grease or Nickel basiced Never Seize compound on the REAR... ie the non Friction part of the pads that get pressed by the caliper pistons, replace pads if all is okay. replace pin ( clean up pin and coat in a thin coat of said copper grease, replace R Clip, pump rear brake a few times to resit pistons and pads.

I have some pictures of back caliper here for you.
http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=150954
Some brake pads have a piece of soft metal right at the end of the friction material to make the brake squeal when it is close to the end, but it could just need grease on the back of the pads. Just do what I didn't, and make damn sure it works PROPERLY before you ride.
