i will reply to that tim, no he will NOT be turning up on my steed not because he is a wimp but because i wont let him, ps tried twice to bring her round to see you but you were elsewhere.

punny have some respect, he throws limited edition sv1000's down runways not the mere 650 he has style you know!!!

as for the swingarm, serious machining needed integrity then questionable!

I thought he had a whole aircraft companies knowledge, capabilities and equipment at his disposal. When I worked for Leyland the prototype dept spent more time of foreigners than work work.

The problem with the SV1000 rear wheel is that it is too wide at the hub... It takes quite a bit of machining the wheel on both sides...

The 2006 and up GSXR 600 / GSXR750 are easier to fit... And you don't machine the wheel it self...

This means you can have street tyres on a set of wheels... And, track tyres on another set of wheels... Also if your tyres do not pass tech inspection at track day, you can borrow any spare 2006 and up GSXR rear wheel form any of your friends...

You can get Race Take Off tyres pretty much anywhere, where 160/60 Race Take Off tyres may not be readily available...

The 180/55 tires last longer on the SV650 because they offer a larger contact patch and better traction, (Less rear wheel slip).

The GSXR wheels weight less than the stock SV650 wheels... So you are not adding rotating weight...

And, the best part is that the bike feels more stable with the wider rear wheel...

I been riding the SV650 with 180/55ZR17 rear tyres since 2006 and I like them a lot... I try the new Pirelli 180/60ZR17, and they feel fantastic... But they are pricey and don't last as long as I was hoping... :(
