We may need a few more votes, as a bystander/possibly pillion the induction noise would be lost by the exhaust and both bikes would almost certainly sound the same (if both had the same exhaust system fitted...to be pedantic). That aside , I agree with what someone above said - go with the bike you want. |
Re: Be patient or go for it!?
To be honest, if I wait around for the right one, I would have saved up enough money for a good pointy! If the sound really is different then I will wait for a pointy to crop up :) Love the stock can aswell, not heard an aftermarket can in person, I don't think videos on YouTube quite do aftermarket cans justice!
As for the shared link, I had already seen the post, and my eyes lit up, but I was sadly too late! Now just a waiting game! Thanks again! -Liam |

That's what my post was about, without going into the various differences between the Pointy & Curvy. There's a whole host of other factors that can change the sound, end can, K&N filter, desnorkel etc etc, whether its a pointy or a curvy. Both my curvy's sound different to each other My post was the base line sound is broadly similar ie V Twin |
Re: Be patient or go for it!?
I get that, as a rider though I find my pointy's (airbox) induction noise really satisfying . Was just wondering if you can get that from a curvy... I know my one didn't produce that roar, it was only the exhaust that was really audible- sounds as though you can

Re: Be patient or go for it!?
H'mm but so's mine with its BMC filter
Don't know about the Pointy noise, I haven't ridden one |
Re: Be patient or go for it!?
I bought my Curvy 3 years ago for £900, after a gap of 18 years without a bike I thought I'd get something cheap and upgrade later, I never did though as it does everything I want a bike to do and economically too. If you buy well now you wont loose any money when it comes to selling so you can still save for a pointy if that's what you want and you get to live for today :D :D :D

Re: Be patient or go for it!?
I agree with the last post actually, although a pointy is my favourite, maybe a curvy would be better for a year while I'm getting the big bike feel. Hey, a curvy is still an SV :smt002 as long as it roars and doesn't scream, it won't lose value! :thumleft:

Re: Be patient or go for it!?
In fairness the curvys shape looked good 15 years ago, now they look outdated and poor.
Get a pointy, for a young un they are much more appealing to the eye unless you're over 60 ;) |
Be patient or go for it!?
As an 18 year old looks are one of the priorities, but I don't think the curvies look horrible, perhaps the dash is a tad dated, but not horrible! :D I think I will just go for the one that comes at the right price! :)
