Re: Lowering a pointy help please
My pointy was lowered, considerably as a number of the Soho crew might remember! You can get longer dogbones from a suzuki dealership, a lower seat, drop the forks and drop the preload. I would strongly suggest against a custom shock as the more you alter the setup the more the handling is affected. I had a CBR that I put a Hagan shock into and the handling was so bad it didn't really go round corners anymore.
There are also bike boots with a built up sole which are excellent - Daytona Ladystars. As handling is affected every time a bike is lowered I would suggest doing it in stages to see what more is needed. For instance I would suggest the lower seat and built-up boots first. Then, if it still needs to be lower I would suggest the longer dogbones, then the preload and forks and finally the shock. You don't need to have both feet flat on the floor you know, tip toes is fine. That is something that I'll never have (well, not including when I have a puncture) so I would suggest not changing the setup unless you absolutely have to. HTH |

Re: Lowering a pointy help please
Like Kate says, a lower or thinner seat makes a huge difference- thinner especially, on the SV, which is a narrow bike anyway. I'm not short, but I've got the rear raised a fair bit with both dogbones and a longer shock, and the gel seat means I can still flatfoot it easily, while with the standard seat it's a stretch. A lowered seat would make even more of a difference- I don't know if the gel seat for the pointy has the same lowering effect as the curvy one though.

Re: Lowering a pointy help please
Hi all.... I`m the friend the bikes been lowered for and I`m thrilled to bits. When I first tried the bike out I was only on tip toes but now I have the balls of my feet on the floor and slightly leaned over I can get one foot flat. Mototech has been an absolute star and I can`t thank him enough for all he`s done. The bike now has a lowered seat, 40mm dogbones and front susp dropped 15mm. I picked the bike up last nite and will admit that after a 2 year break from riding I was as nervous as hell! After about 5 minutes everything fell back into place and i`m one happy bunny. Just gonna take it easy for a while and get used to the bike and build my confidence back up but again a big thanks to Mototech and also thank you to everyone on here who`s posted with advice
