Re: Has anyone ever removed the whole petrol cap?
Hmmm, maybe it has a kind of pressed/rivited assembly...
My thinking was the same as TSMs, if it was put together it can come apart. Only one way to find out, gonna take mine apart at the weekend just to see, I like a challenge :p |
Re: Has anyone ever removed the whole petrol cap?
I had one sitting in the garage so i've had a look and took some pics for you.
the whole lock assembly can be removed by taking out the 6 smaller screws i suspect this is the easiest option the actual lock itself can be taken apart by removing the 2 larger screws the metal surrounding ring is attached to the cap via a hinge pin which could probably be drifted out and back in again if you were carefull. if you want this one pm me you can have it as i dont need it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...trolcap001.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...trolcap004.jpg |

If it's just the silver ring you want to remove (curvy or pointy) then drift out the pin across the bottom of that pic. I think I used a 3mm punch.
Mine was flaking so i did this, it works. |
