problem: off road bike that's not much fun to use on the road

solution: supermoto rims/rubber

i would bet money on you grinning more after a backroad blast on the DRZ after it's been "SM'd" than the hairnet;)

All the DRZ's I've looked at come with Talon wheels and full Yoshi systems as well as off road wheels and discs. So the options are endless. Well, on road or off road. :p Still under 2k as well.

You may as well keep using the Hornet as a day to day bike. Its a Honda so build quality/reliability should be good. Also you will enjoy riding the Hornet a lot more than a GS or another equivalent. By the time you have paid for the GS/servicing/insurance/consumables/tax etc, the costs don't make it worthwhile.

The more I think about this the more I guess it makes financial sense. Unless I can find a reliable hack for £500 (which is very unlikely). Okay. ASM despite your looks you seem much more sensible than I. Which I guess has never been hard. :D So I'm now just looking for a off roader.

I thankyou.

the yoshi pipe + 3x3 mod is pretty much standard for the DRZ, just make sure the carb has been re-jetted to suit the increased airflow and you know what jets are in there, so if you do have any problems you have a starting point for jetting the carb yourself

there's a whole load of info drz info over on www.thumpertalk.com in the model specific forum

edit: just remember, they upgraded the brakes on the SM version for a reason;)

That is heresy, the 675 engine is a thing of beauty. How can you find that similar to a hairnet?

Apart from engine being 1 cylinder less , the ST is pretty similar to a Hornet in that they are both naked 600's(ish).. I think he means that they are two similar to own both..

Dan , you are worse than me when it comes to chopping and changing! :D
