Re: numberplates........ again
My bike is currently legal in regards to number plate and exhaust (no tax disc on it though) - but only because it had an MOT last weekend and I am off into Wales tomorrow. Since Welsh plod have a reputation - and there will be a group of us - I am assuming we will get pulled at some point during the day.
I have had an 8x6 since I bought the bike, which was swapped for a 7x5 by a friend as a wedding present (matching his n hers plates...) The 7x5 will go back on, and the baffle will come out but not until sunday. |
Re: numberplates........ again
Never understood the fascination with smaller plates - not as if it makes you go any faster. Maybe you get a small benefit in the looks department but a £60 hit on your wallet far outweighs the benefit..

It probably comes out that the true cost averages at £1.50 (across all people with small plates) ;) I would then say that is worth it :p |
Re: numberplates........ again
These threads are so funny... it is the same the world over. My plate is the standard 7x3 6 digit government issue plate and people still want to make them smaller.
I don't get it either. Cheers |
Re: numberplates........ again
I got a £30 fine and swapped it to the smallest legal size I could go.
I have 6.5 x 6.5, becauseI only have 6 digits and some of them consist of 1's It can legally be fairly small anyway. |

Re: numberplates, again
I've gone back to the 9x7 after being stopped by the rozzers on the day the £60 fine came in. Had a 7x5 on at the time and was lucky he just gave me a rectification notice. As others have said, it definitely isn't worth the hassle being stopped etc for a couple of inches ;)

Re: numberplates, again
and now that they can raise 60 quid a pop , i guess more will be getting pulled for them.
more revenue for the coffers. |
Re: numberplates, again
Went for a bimble out in wales yesterday...had a chat with plod at Ponderosa. He said that plates would definately get a tug - although he wasn't pulling people himself that day as he was just talking to riders on the car park. I did get the feeling that his unmarked collegues would be keen though.
OT - He told us which unmarked cars were out, how to identify them (Octavias, no aerials but they had dog guards in the back) and where the cameras were. He also suggested a different way home for some good roads...he wasn't wrong! |
