Reviving this thread as it was really useful. The guide is brilliant.
I have fitted my R&G grips now but I am at the stage of soldering the wire into the fuse. Any tips on how to do this? I haven't soldered anything since school and don't want to blow the fuses. Is there some sort of techinique or do I just hold the wire in place in the fuse box and let the solder melt in??!! If you have a response please keep it simple..., I am a girl ;) |

Tin both sides of the join, then hold them together, apply heat and let the solder run.

Re: --FITTING GUIDE HERE-- Oxford HotGrips K3> PDF format
By 'tin' do you mean putting solder on both parts sperately first (the fuse box and the wire) and then joining them together?
Sorry if that sounds really dumb & this is really obvious to everyone else! |
Re: --FITTING GUIDE HERE-- Oxford HotGrips K3> PDF format
Yes, that's right. Heat each part separately and get some solder on them before attempting to join them, that way you don't need to add solder, hold them together and heat them all at the same time.
