As well as the fender extenda and silicone grease, I made a small aluminium shield which fixes on the two fan bolts and effectively closes off the gap between the rad and cyliunder head, plus there's a small extension tab going up behind the rad in front of the plug.

Thanks for all the help guys and girls, seem to have sorted the prob for now, but i will find out when it rains :o
