As soon as the copper got out of the car, he pointed to my bike (not knowing it was my bike & I was the only one near him at the time) with a comment of "Small plate on that!" to which I replied (stupidly thinking about it) "Aye, but just legal." He came back with a stern "No it's not!"

I measured the plate when I bought it, and it's only very very slightly too small. Technically the font has changed from the standard font, which breaks the law, but how many people do that?

Lissa spoke to him, and apparently he's a bike cop. I think he's one of the one's that's a copper first then a biker though.

if there was one guy I would never have thought would come off on a corner it would be Mike.. Ed can probably confirm and baph.. he rides on rails

I'd like to add to that, the fact that where Mike came off, he knows the road VERY well. He's told me in the past he used to ride go-karts on that road (maybe a tad naughty, but hell, it's the middle of no-where effectively). I've also been down that road with him, probably around they same pace they were doing today (although I wasn't there today, I was at the back running tail ender). So from knowing Mike, the accident was not caused by excess speed.

Other than that, I wasn't there, so I won't comment on what happened because I honestly don't know. The first I knew about it, my reaction was just "Oh S**T."

We were also talking about this earlier in the day. On the whole, even I have to say that the police were professional about it all. We had the situation under control even before the 999 call was finished (thanks to the guy in the 4x4 for stopping & calling them btw!!).

The traffic cop that pulled up (2nd car) was a bit of an a**e IMO, but you get that with every job. According to Lissa he's usually on a bike (as I said above), so I can fully understand why he was unhappy about being there. No-one that rides a bike wants to see another biker down, he has to as part of his job.

Saying that though, When we pulled up further down the road to get to a safe place (after Mike had gone in the ambulance), I stuck my baffle back in the can in case anything was going to happen like looking closer at our bikes.

As has been posted above, Mike's bike is at the local farmers barn awaiting picking up. The police have been down to take a look at it (registration details etc etc) & I'm sure Mike has someone that can pick it up for him. If not, I know someone with a pickup truck that can probably help out with that.

Heal well Mike, and give me a shout if there's anything I can do. Also, if you're home tonight, you have a PM.

Pete and I are now safely tucked up at Pete's Eats in Llanberis.

To totally comfirm what both Quiff and Glsuk have said, Luckypants was riding well and safely. Never saw him pull one dodgy move all day. Sheer bad luck.

As far as the police were concerned, in our opinion they had no attitude towards us whatsoever. Our bike was parked right in front of them and they didn't say a thing to us. Maybe it was my charming personality:D

Hoping to hear some news from Baph later as to how Luckypants is.

EDIT..............posted as I was posting Baph!

Thinking about it afterwards, I should of just said "Is it?" because that would of left more room for arguments later :D Such as "So what's the legal dimensions officer, and do you have a ruler?"

Anyway, get well soon Mike.

GWS luckypants (see I know what that one means ;) )

At the scene of a very nasty accident where another biker was seriously injured the police did pass comment on my small number plate, but that's all they did, they could have fined me. I understand that it seems petty in light of being at the scene of an accident, but I guess if they notice, they cant help but let on !

Agreed. My plate, fine or lack thereof is way besides the point. Luckypants is the focus.

Unfortunately I've just had a little more bad news, not about Luckypants, but 2mths.

He's on the A5 suffering from wet-cylinder-itus. He thought he'd broken his HT lead, but has just worked out that they come apart, and has put it back together.

Fingers crossed that he has no further issues with it. Although he's said he's covered by RAC should he have to stop, and I know he has enough sense as to not push it too much.

Pete & Lissa, I'll see you in the morning, all things being equal. Possibles for tomorrow are K, VB & Kwak. Guys, if you read this, let me know if you want to meet up somewhere.
