It's also easier for people to find your address if they have your number plate and then come and nick your bike/car etc.

Getting access to the DVLA database is not as hard as you would think.

you used to be able to get an address off a number plate by just filling in a form at the post office and paying £5 but you cant do it anymore, my solicitor had a right game trying to get details off dvla to trace a whitness.

Another reason might be...

"Here's a picture of my bike..." on one thread, then "The other day I was doin' 120 mph down the A666..." and having that sinking feeling when you receive a NIP  like the fella who put a video of his riding on utube :!:

Agreed that if you wanted to clone a bike just find one parked up :( But how long is it going to take you to find a suitable bike to clone compared to looking through the relevent forum, you already know you plan on cloning a bike, there must be a reason to do it or you're just going to do it for a laugh

And Cloggsy has given the other good reason, they know you was in the area cause you told them and then posted a pic with the number plate, how many people have just admitted to a speeding offence without actually seeing the evidence

Easiest way now is to ask the police. Pop in to the local cop shop, say someone bumped into you in a car park and drove off, give them the details of the vehicle and hey presto, 2 weeks later you get their address and their insurance info through the post!!!
