Re: Xenon Bulb - worth it?
Purchased two pack of Osram Nightbreaker bulbs from ebay for £11.40 from 'wattbulb' (due to this thread!). Fitted today. Thery're worth it just for the packaging!
Haven't been for a ride in the dark, but colour looks better and they do seem bright. |

Re: Xenon Bulb - worth it?
I've just replaced a set of nightbreakers with philips xtreme power and I have to say the difference is noticeable with one nightbreaker one philips,
The philips beam throws so much further - even when I swapped the bulbs into the opposite sides to take account of the beam patterns! Philips gets my vote now!! |
Re: Xenon Bulb - worth it?
i just got Osram silver stars 55% thingy ma jobbies for the cage, i do hope they improve the standard head lights.

Re. the bike specific lamps.
AFAIK they are built to be a bit more robust, vibration resistant filaments etc. Having said that I haven't found any significant problem with modern branded lamps in bikes, certainly Osram Silverstars and Philips X-treme Powers have been in my bikes for a lot of miles with no failures yet. I believe the more robust designs slightly reduce the light output. They are probably worth considering for off-road/ATV use but for on-road use just stick with the normal auto spec branded lamps (Osram/Philips etc) and you'll be fine. |
Re: Xenon Bulb - worth it?
I've had an nightbreaker fail and its been less than 4 months, dad's one also blew in his harley - maybe a bad batch.
