Saw one of these in a bike bay yesterday. Bit wider and lower than I expected, but looked ok. The rear seems a bit "plasticy" though.

As to how it rides? Who cares, I've got an SV

If Suzuki think that an IL4 is where the money is, then any future development of the SV will be over. Similar to the VTR1000 in which it just carries on and stays the same.

Um... The new Fazer falls into that camp, in this bracket, but not to the extent some would tell you. The rest don't really.

I've tried a load of 600's

Learned on a GT550

Tried the last GSXR600 and ZX6R

New and old fazers

Hornet

Triumph Speed Four and Daytona 600

But I still think that 600cc is too little for an IL4. 750cc now you are talking

I like torque low down. I like grunt. I don't like high end power (just think it will get me into trouble one day  )

That's why I've only owned twins and singles!!!

In theory, aye... But it's not likely. If you look at the sales of the SV, it's not going anywhere in a hurry. If you want to turn it around, if IL4s were where the money is, why have Kawasaki just launced a direct competitor for the SV?

The ER-6 is the long awaited replacement for the GPz...it only took 'em 13 years!!!!

The Bandit's air cooled IL4 grandpa is making the same power as the SV's but at much lower torque. The more modern GSR liquid cooled IL4 is far better. More power.

I think the upturn in sales of SVs could be more to do with Suzuki agressive marketing and price cutting and free finance and free servicing. Rather than love of the V-twin engine. It matches the Hornet in jorno write ups but stuffs it on price.

I'd say that's the Z750. The GPz might have ended up being considered a tame commuter but it didn't start life that way.

I beg to differ. I think the Z is the Hornet or Fazer chaser and the ER is the ER-5's bigger brother.

The GPz was a go-getter in it's early days but that was many moons ago when it had few competition. Even said to be the new 350LC!!! A light weight bike with 60 horse is today's back marker and that is why Kwak went IL4 and 100bhp with the Z.

I don't like the styling and the colours the UK market have been given are rubbish. Motor might be good, but I'd rather buy a 'fightered GSX-r 600 for half the price and just have to pay a bit more insurance.

I don't think we're exactly disagreeing here ;) Now I think about it more, the real heir to the Geep is the 636 IMO.

But whether or not it's the replacement for another bike, it's still absolutely a direct competitor for the SV. The spec is so close and the target market so similiar.
