I had previously tried progressive fork springs - and while better than stock they weren't great. Still had too much fork dive, juddery on rough or bumpy roads and didn't want to turn into sharp corners.

Well I can say that the new mod is fantastic! Bike handles like a CBR600RR (I've ridden one on a track day). Honest, I'm well pleased (and a little stunned).

High speed damping is good (bumpy roads used to rattle my eyes out), braking is much better (little fork dive) and it flicks through corners like you wouldn't believe.
Not cheap - daren't tell unless the wife finds out - but it makes the bike what it should have been from the factory.

how much would this cost, ballpark figure.

Domas,
The emulators are factory set and they're fine. 15W is good for the road; use a good brand because my Hypropro oil looked poor after only 12 months (one leg black the other milky?). Original Suzuki springs are 0.67 so may be too soft. I'm circa 12.5 stone plus leathers.

Bluefishman - look to budget for £350 fitted, with a fork service from a professional.

I get that on my 15w on some roads. Is there a problem with it being too hard for you would softer be more forgiving or would it just feel like it was? sheffield is pothole city and I've hit one on a bend and it was very much a brown trouser moment, hitting choppy road surfaces on heavy (for a 33bhp ) acceleration is a bit uncomfortable too.

I want to try stock because they are 0.712, and race-tech recommends 0.728 for road use, because my SV is naked so theoretically less weight on front, and because springs can be easily replaced later on, even without removing forks.

I will try 10W oil first, as I read somewhere that stock springs are likely not to be able to handle 15W on rebound and thus giving too much rebound damping.

First thing I need to do is find a way to get the emulators to this god forgotten place.

Can anyone tell me why Suzuki fit softer springs to the S?

Domas,

Try e-mailing Gareth at Reactive Suspension (in York) I'm sure he will advise you.

The SV is a "Budget" bike to all intents and purposes , Suzuki pinched quite a few pennies in certain areas to keep the costs down , the S has clip-ons and you are over the front a lot more than on the Naked , so I suppose they fitted softer springs to make the general ride a bit nicer on the wrists ..... as we all know this is not true in certain road conditions . They don`t cater bikes for conditions "country by country" so I suppose they went for a "Happy" European medium ......... this is just guesswork by the way and is not based on anything factual :)

Omg it's true, just checked racetech site. S models have 0.670, and N models 0.712 springs. Definatelly gonna try stocks then.

Re: Front Springs - YET again.

Gareth at Reactive Suspension was most helpful, and I have received emulators today. I will install them after i figured out the settings first.

What added more confusion to the matter, is that i received 2 sets of valve preload springs, yellow springs pre-installed 64 lb/in, and blue springs 40 lb/in.

Race-tech brochure indicates that preload controls firmness when braking, and spring rate controls firmness over small bumps.

So, anyone bothered exchanging valve preload springs? How does it affect the feel of forks if I use softer spring with more preload in comparison with harder spring with less preload?
