But yes- you're spot on, but the thing is, most claims for compassionate release are already met (something like 4 out of 5 in scotland), this isn't some new thing or a precedent.

No I was asking where you were basing the compassionate release thing from, not the toehr acts of terrorism.

You'd put the CEO of a company at the same level of responsibility as someone who (for example) actually solders the wires into a timer unit and a big stack of semtex?

Working with those cheeky monkeys in the far east is one of those things, you can guarantee they will cut costs despite what civilised owners/customers ask or demand.

Ah right. Just from a google, I got a link from the scottish prison service I think. If I remember rightly there's been 84 applications and 60-something were approved. There wasn't a breakdown of why the others were rejected but it did mention lack of medical evidence as a cause.

Yeah, and he would have been if he'd actually been in prison, instead of fleeing the country and taking the **** for 35 years then returning home when it suited his reasons. Let's not forget Biggs made his first request for release on medical grounds in 2001, not even a year after he came home, then again in 2005, then agian in 2007, each time because his death was "imminent" and he "wanted to die with his family" You can't compare his crime with megrahi's of course but equally you can't compare his conduct, megrahi's maintained his innocence and made constant appeals, biggs has gloried in his guilt (megrahi never released a punk song...) and still tried to beat the system.
