Is this expensive?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUZUKI-SV650-S...item35a60d925b
Seems pretty pricey to me for something that needs work to fix it up. I'd have thought you could get a mint K3 for that? Am I being harsh here? |
Re: Is this expensive?
Personal opinion of one who spent 20 years working as a consulting automotive engineer and claims assessor.
Are they f*cking mad? forks, tank fairing, etc require changing. It is beyond economical repair and only fit for scrapping. |
Re: Is this expensive?
"A light accident"
Hahahahahahahahah |
Re: Is this expensive?
Id say there is a minimum of 400 quids worth of second hand parts needed to get that back to scratch. Also the blurry pics and the lack of a full description of the damage suggests they are hiding something. Its probably worth a grand tops, if there was any money in it the dealer would fix it up themselves and flog it. My guess they got it in part ex hoping to make a quick buck only to find there was more damage than first found.

Re: Is this expensive?
mike i sold my cat c k3 over 3 years ago for only £1800 and that was repaired! that one on ebay was simalir to mine when i crunched that and its cost me about £600 to repair in used parts and a spray job. id say that one is worth about 700 max to make it worth while.

Re: Is this expensive?
Well that's what I thought guys, but don't know a lot about bent bike prices. Nice to know I was not wrong.
|
Re: Is this expensive?
That's well over priced ,probably double.
|
Re: Is this expensive?
It was the bent forks that drew me to it, thinking front end conversion and track bike, but was too much money for a track bike. Seems it is too much money period.

Re: Is this expensive?
I already messaged that seller over the holidays and told him he was Barking up the wrong tree with that price .
|
Re: Is this expensive?
I don't think it's that unreasonable.
Only 13,000 miles in otherwise good condition from a dealer (as it is - business seller) It could be easily sold for £2500, so I think there's a lot of money there to pay for the repair. |

Re: Is this expensive?
Yes!
£1600 is about right for a K3 which is spotless with average miles etc. £1600 + cost of repairs would be putting you in K6/K7 money. |
Re: Is this expensive?
Look at it this way
I will use estimate prices as haven't got them to hand you start with the pre accidental value of the bike ~ £2500 being generous 2500 - 400 tank - 1200 forks complete - 500 exhaust - 300 front fairing - 60 brake pedal - 300 labour -500 salvage value The cost of fixing it as you would expect if some numpty had hit you, ie factory parts by manufacturer approved technicians is greater than the pre accidental value of the bike. I am amazed by people who fail to add the value of their own labour when repairing bikes and think they have been able to get a bike back on the road cheaply. OK, you can use second hand parts. But most of the pool will be battered. How many unmarked tanks/fairings are there out there? so you will be very unlikely to ever get it back to its pre accidental condition/value. In the Ebay piccs the bungs have been removed. You then have to question why. what unknown damage is there. possibly got to add a new front wheel, brakes etc. This is definitely one to walk away from. |
Re: Is this expensive?
If you're keen enough you could strip. then as long as the damage isnt registered to the frame you might even break even. :)
|
Re: Is this expensive?
demand for machines for minitwins seems to be pushing up the price of these types of damaged SV's.
|
Re: Is this expensive?
Maybe he was using this years new bike prices as a rule of thumb?
have you seen this years bike prices....naughty naughty!! |
Re: Is this expensive?
I was hoping to get about £1800 for mine with a gently scratched mirror and gently scratched clutch lever, so that is definatly over priced.
|
Re: Is this expensive?
It always amazes me how much these salvage dealers want for bent bikes. Why spend that sort of money on a dodgy mess when a few quid more buys you a good one?
|
Re: Is this expensive?
Exactly, a while ago salvage dealer near me wanted £100 more for a bent 955i than there was a straight one on ebay
|
Re: Is this expensive?
I'd say its over priced. But it is unrecorded. Also you can make an offer so he has priced it expecting a bid. As others have said mini twins and increased new bike prices will probably push up residuals.

Re: Is this expensive?
Is it just me, (I not read all the replies) but that front wheel dont seem to be where it should? I think this "light accident" wasn't quite so light!
Infact im certain that is one knackered front end... |
Re: Is this expensive?
I bet the frame is bent.
