Scorpion End Can (Complete Novice Alert!)
Ok, so I have purchased Mikelcfc's Scorpion can he was selling on here. He has sent me the can, link pipe and bracket but me being a complete numpty when it comes to these things, has no idea where to start with fitting it.
Can someone maybe give me step by step...BASIC, and I mean basic, instructions? My bike is a K1 btw... |
Re: Scorpion End Can (Complete Novice Alert!)
Have you got something to cut the pipe with? A grinder or hacksaw?
|
Re: Scorpion End Can (Complete Novice Alert!)
I'm sure there are several hacksaws in the shed.....

Re: Scorpion End Can (Complete Novice Alert!)
Get a decent blade and cut your silencer off, usual spot is 50mm from the weld IIRC.
|
Re: Scorpion End Can (Complete Novice Alert!)
Oh...cutting things off....sounds a bit scary!
|
Re: Scorpion End Can (Complete Novice Alert!)
Can always weld it back on if you get it wrong :-P

Re: Scorpion End Can (Complete Novice Alert!)
if your struggling you can head up here when it suits you and i'll fit it for you mrs

Re: Scorpion End Can (Complete Novice Alert!)
Dead simple. Like Mr YC said, get yourself a fresh hacksaw blade. Then measure 50mm from the exhaust weld back towards the current can. I would recommend if you can putting some masking tape on and draw on that, as stops the blade jumping around.
Then when sawing it WILL take ages.....but be patient. Once you get bout a third the way through it becomes easy. Then simply slide can onto link pipe, slide it on and secure on cut end with a clamp (can't remember what they are now!!!! Doh). Then attach can with strap. |
Re: Scorpion End Can (Complete Novice Alert!)
Or buy a cheap angle grinder to cut it-----So much less like hard work.
|
Re: Scorpion End Can (Complete Novice Alert!)
Its on! A friend came round and we got a loan of an angle grinder and fitted it. Sounds amazing. No baffle in it though so hope MOT goes ok....
|
Re: Scorpion End Can (Complete Novice Alert!)
Should have used a junior hacksaw with a bent blunt blade its so much easier...
|
Re: Scorpion End Can (Complete Novice Alert!)
Using this method, how would one go about fitting the original can again should it be needed for an MOT?

Re: Scorpion End Can (Complete Novice Alert!)
You need a sleeve to go over both ends and some jubilee clips to hold it together.
