Spark plug location? K7.

trying to change my spark plugs, my model is a 2007 fully faired sv650.
i have been told that the 2007+ models have four plugs but i can only locate two
one in the front and one in the rear.

can anyone help

I believe the other two are on the side of the cylinder head.

The pic at step 3 show the front two plugs. Have you done those two?

no as i say the pic does not match what i have. almost like its different engine.
i can only see one plug when i move the radiator and one under the coolant system

You may have a late registered 2006 (K6) engine then, They only have 2 plugs. If you cant see a plug there, there isn't one any you are done!

I was only asking as the forum says 2007+ has four plugs. Mine is meant to be a 2007 but only has two visable plugs. Either I got conned and the engine has been replaced to a older model or I got a 2006 with a late registion .

My guess would be a late registered k6. What does it say in your v5?

Later versions of the engine had an extra plug on each cylinder. The DL got this slightly earlier than the SV. The extra plug improved burning and therefore emissions.

I've just noticed the starter motor cabling. The connection is on the end of the motor, rather than the side.

Iv read in the past that theres no real benefit to the twin spark when riding anyway? Other than emissions, which wouldnt bother me haha.

So id just be pleased that youve got 2 new spare plugs for next time if i was you haha

Mines a 07 plate, but a K6. So I'd say there will be a few others like us out there.

I wouldn't worry, it looks like to other 2 plugs are a pain to get to.
Count yourself lucky.

I've wondered whether it might help a little with the SV standard issue running on one cylinder in the wet. Probably not as much as a fender extender though.
