How many mile do you get on reserve???

Came to work this morning and realised halfway that blinker turned full for low fuel . I have an 8 mile ride home and have done 4 already. Will i make it :-k Forgot my wallet #-o

you on a curvy? curvy models flash first then go solid, i think you will be ok as ive rode about 20 miles with the light on/flashing

Boomer 10-06-05 09:02 AM

You'll be fine. I've done about 25 miles when the warning light has gone solid on the pointy K3.

I got caught out late Sunday in Wales last year (on a curvy 650S) - no petrol stations open and (riding gently) did 34 miles with the reserve light on solid, heart in mouth for the last 20 of them. Bike didn't miss a beat.

On the pointies it goes solid with 5 litres left, you can do a bit more than 25 miles.
On the curvies it goes solid at more like 2 litres. 8 miles should be doable but I would be worried about it.

Not looking forward to it, BIG hill near my house. I'll die before i reach top   [-o< Please let me make it

weegaz22 10-06-05 09:34 AM

well you know what to do, give it a big handfull of throttle on the run up to the hill, then coast up it

Or half the tyres' rolling resistance, thereby decreasing fuel consumption, by wheelying all the way home

Stormspiel 10-06-05 09:41 AM

Ha Ha Ha . Knowing my luck i'll get stuck behind some sunday driver doing 20mph . This just gets better, It's now raining and i haven't got waterproofs on me either . i really need to be better prepared

Just fill it up at the first petrol station ya get to and play dumb..... 'oh, sorry I've forgot me wallet'. Fill out the form and just go back and pay within 24 hours !! Done that a few times..... however, as above, you should make it no problem....

whats this about the light flashing, then going steady?,

i have a pointy 04 svs and my light doesnt flash, when the fuel light comes on it just glows steady until i fill up, no flashing or anything.

K3 and K4 come on solid at 5 litres, no flashing. The new K5 apparently has the flashing back.

Mines has never gone solid, and I've run out of juice should I worry???

weegaz22 10-06-05 04:45 PM

yes

only reason i know it goes solid is when i bought my bike from newcastle when i got to glasgow it started flashing, then went solid a few miles before home

sprocket 10-06-05 04:50 PM

LOL Mine regularly flashes (curvy model) but I've never seen it solid and i've done a good 15 mile journey with it flashing still. Good luck on your way home though

suspense

The suspense is killing me.... did you make it???! :o

I'm rooting for ya.

swordtail 10-06-05 05:32 PM

I think my K5 says it flashes at about 5 litres left and goes solid at 1 or 2. I rode it 8 miles on solid and it still only took 14 litres at the petrol station and I thought it was a 17 litre tank.

Riding my normal commute I get about ten miles to the litre.

adam 10-06-05 05:43 PM

He must've made it unless he gassed it hard in the lower gears......
I've done that and run out and had no one to be angry at but myself lol.

Daz 10-06-05 06:59 PM

I recon my restricted K4 would probably have done 60-70 with the light on. I have gone 40 miles before chickening out and put 15 litres in the 17 litre tank

Found out last weekend that the bike goes 160 miles @ 80mph on the motorway before the light comes on, and it averaged 60mpg :riding: Atrer 200 miles I put some pertol in

The restrictor comes out tomorrow. I'm going to miss it

valleyboy 10-06-05 08:28 PM

I have a K3.. well, it doesnt flash.. but it aint quite solid either... it comes on for a god few seconds, then goes out... etc.. then goes full solid a few miles later!
