I use a thin screwdriver, work it down the length of the grip and then all around the 'bar. once it's loosened it'll come off easily.

Pour boiling water on them to soften the hot melt glue and they just roll off then

Heated grips fitted, lovely and warm, though the right hand does get a bit hotter.

All rather easy and I'm a muppet when it comes to these things.

Don't forget to take the bar end weights off first, if they haven't been moved in a while you might need a impact driver...

Screwdriver works, but if they are old and hard, boil a kettle, pour and peel! If that doesnt work, resort to our mate stanley!

Diveboy 23-05-06 08:56 PM

When fitting the new ones lube the inside with washing up liquid. it dries quickly but make the job 200000% easier.

Trust in my blisters!!!

Funnily enough I found the same thing it is down to how hard you grip them. Possibly good at making you a more balanced rider

or just showing up how much you grip the throttle

How about the LHS ONE is in contact with metal (good conductor), whilst the RHS one sits on the plastic throttle tube (good insulator). Did no one else listen in Physics :P

great theory !!

except itsthe right hand one that Grinch says gets hotter !!!..

didnt you listen in comprehension !??

John Burt 24-05-06 04:02 PM

Yep - better insulator less heat loss sown the bar -now go to the backl of the class and give me 100 lines " I wished I'd listned in Science" :P

He said, "the LHS ONE is in contact with metal (good conductor)". This means that it will conduct the heat AWAY from the grip, meaning that it will be cooler then the RHS.

Didn't you comprehend in physics! ;)

Quiff Wichard 24-05-06 06:32 PM

aha !!..

me see

I forgot that heated grips are heated ! lol

I wa sthinkin that the heat came from the bar to the grip!.. for some reason !( pressure day !!!) .....

I apologise... profusely..

and NO- i didnt listen to anything... ! I wa susually outside stood near the headmasters office !!
