Wheel axle grease type?
Im refitting the wheels after fitting some nice roadtec z6's on and we are talking axles from factory fitted tyres
Any recommendations on what is the best grease to use and some basic info on how i should cover it and how sparingly? and the spacers - i take it i should clean them up a bit first ..... btw thanks so far on all the advice this forum really is the best :) |
Castrol LM or any decent lithium based grease is the ticket.

XG279 Army code for hub and bearing grease... 5 - 25 litre tub, loads of the stuff.

I had tyres fitted at Demon Tweeks recently and the grease they used was red. What is it? I'm assuming (hoping) its not rubber grease.

There's no question that greasing your tyres will significantly increase the mileage you'll get from them  .

Red Grease

I've got a tub of "Silkolene Racing Grease" that I won in a comptetion once. This is red. When I asked a mate who races once why it was red he said it was because it shows up easily, as in, if the supposedly greasy bit is not red there is a probelm with it.
I just slap the stuff liberally into bearings and on things like the spindle when refitting my wheels and so far I've had no problems. |
