those black things to fill the gaps if you......

has anybody successfully made any of those black things to fill the gaps if you take the grab rail off of a curvy?
cos i have tried ....but they look crap?

Flamin_Squirrel 20-11-06 04:33 PM

Are you re-fitting the seat, or do you want to put a cowl on?

You can get cowls that have tabs that'll fill the gap.

ArtyLady 20-11-06 04:41 PM

I put my grabrail back on (useful for putting luggage on too) - although you can get plastic inserts appartently.

hovis 20-11-06 04:45 PM

i have a cowl & i have taken the escort cosworth grab rail off i know you an get plastic bits from bandit mania £25  but you can make them out of a floppy disk.

northwind 20-11-06 04:47 PM

I was going to make some out of leftover bridging fibreglass and filler... But I couldn't be bothered in the end :) Best way to do it IMO but it'd also cost, and be a fair amount of effort. The floppy discs way looks miles better than I'd ever thought it would though, seen that a few times.

hovis 20-11-06 04:54 PM

if anybody made 2 pairs by mistake.........  nudge, nudge

northwind 20-11-06 05:05 PM

Never done it that way myself, I bought Banditmania ones ;)

[-( £25

£19 back then... Still a little hard to justify, but you're not paying £25 for 2 small bits of filler, you're paying £25 for a rear end that doesn't look rubbish :)

I've used the corrugated tube that you use to keep computer cables tidy (If you have tidy computer cables) Simply cut off a couple of inches and glue it in.

Looks fine, takes 2 mins costs nowt if you've got some spare tube or can acquire a bit from work.

Also is flexible, so you can drag your optimate charge lead out through it if you've got a long enough lead.

My pyramid seat cowl fills the gaps.

NedSVS 20-11-06 08:04 PM

Are the Bandit Mania ones finished in the same metalic grey as tail panel? Or are they just plain grey, ready for painting?

northwind 20-11-06 08:20 PM

Same as the tail piece. Or at least mine were, and a good match too.

muffles 20-11-06 08:49 PM

get a pointy and you get the filler bits with the seat cowl... :p

You get the same with the curvy if you get the cowl from Pyramid... I have 2... :D

114 quid though... paid 99 for my first one the other came with the bike.

northwind 21-11-06 12:50 AM

Ah but Grinch, the thing is, the Pyramids one looks like a bag of old **** :) Plus, TCP cowl + shutters still costs less than the Pyramids one...

instigator 21-11-06 02:43 AM

It's the TCP ones that give me the :pl: :pale: :pukel:  :smt078 :smt103 :smt119 :smt120

They're 'orrid.

northwind 21-11-06 09:39 AM

That's what I've got... OEM one is TCP, it's just a bump.
