You need to put less weight on your arms. Keep those elbows bent and grip the bike with your knees. ;)

Adjust your clutch and front brake lever so that theres a straight line through your elbow, wrist to the end of your finger tips. Relax and grip the tank more with your knees like Razor says...

and then ride your bike more so you build up the muscles you're using and then you wont ache.

What Razor said and ride faster the wind will keep the weight off your wrists;)

I had a similar thing with my pointy - after learning on a sit up and beg type, I though "OMG, what the hell is this...?"

But gripping my knees with the tank (partly to stop the crown jewels beings smashed when I brake) and moving the brake and clutch levers down have done wonders... Also, A few good rides will acclimatise you to the position.

I could be shooting myslef in the foot as I will be riding to Wales next weekend, and I havent ridden that far yet!

I see MickyT has spotted the ad in For Sale for the sunrisers.

There's also some Hawk GT bars on there http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=93494
which make a neat conversion.

I fitted some FJ1200 bars on my curvy with a little modification (grinding some meat away to clear the top yoke) http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.p...ghlight=fj1200

Having done plenty of miles with them I have to say the bike is much nicer to ride, not that I found wrist ache a problem but simply the riding position is much improved.

You'll probably need a longer brake hose whichever way you go. I had one made up at a local place which does some preparation for bike racing, around £20 in stainless fittings.
Clutch side just needed re-routing of cables.

There are some tips to change the clip ons for curvies or raise them at SV RIDER. I recently purchased a factory tripple tree with bar clamps to replace my clip ons. I belive the company is LSL that has tripple tree and clip on mods. there is another company called convert a bars that makes clip ons that you can adjust to different heights. I put a thread on here about handle bar change outs. step by step. but check SV Rider for advise. I hope this helped.

Sorry forgot about them. A couple of people on SVRider made mods of their own and purchased aftermarket kits. One guy took the clip ons and mounted them above the tripple tree.

I can't give any technical advice, but I had the same problem.

Someone at AR07 told me about gripping the tank with my thighs and keeping my elbows bent......and it works!!! I now hardly feel the ache and I have lovely toned arms and thighs to boot.....even if I say so myself.:p

if you're going touring, take a tankbag and rest your belly on it :)

Does bending your arms more not result in a painful back? I've been having problems with back pain recently as a result of riding:( Never had painful wrists tho...

Re: aching wrists on a curvy

I find the bent back/bent elbow thing can be equally as uncomfortable over a long distance. When cruising I just want to sit more upright.

I solved the wrist problems by rotating the levers down like someone else said. That way you aren't bending your wrists upwards so much. The SV as I remember is very good because it allows a fair amount of rotation on the levers. Other bikes that I have had since would barely move down at all and as a result I found the bikes unusable due to crippling pain. My old 6R was a nightmare for that.

Building up helps too. The more you do that distance the stronger your wrists get.

I think its a case of allowing your muscles to get used to it IMHO. My back was in agony when I first started, as were the rest of my muscles. I don't notice it at all now. My wrists do ache a little though, but I think thats just down to my skinny weak wrists anyway.

Re: aching wrists on a curvy

Grip with your thighs/knees, but also tip your hips forwards (or stick your bum out, same effect) - this will put more effort into maintaining your posture onto your core muscles/stomach.
Also - don't be tempted to curl or hunch over the tank. Bend from teh mid-torso and don't roll your shoulders.
Keeping your shoulders straight and head up will not only take weight off your wrists but help observation and ease your neck.

It may feel weird at first, but once your muscles adjust your should not only find it more comfortable, but the bike may feel more responsive without those aches getting in the way. ;)
