trip meter resets after switching off bike

I just went for a 150(ish?) mile spin that I wanted to use my trip meter to measure (using trip a). I had to fuel the bike half way through, and when I turned the bike off and on again at the garage the trip meter had reset to 0.0

Is there a way to keep the trip meter values after the bike is switched off? (2018 SV650)

I have the 2016 AL7 and mine doesn't do that. The only time my "Trip A" (or Trip B) resets is if I press and hold the "SEL" button for a couple of seconds which I do on each fill up. If I didn't press and hold the SEL button it would retain the (Trip) mileage setting.

Unfortunately, I cannot recall whether it loses the setting if the battery is disconnected.

No, it doesn't lose time. Everything else seems fine, I'm just confused why the trip meters get reset to 0

I've no idea about the 2018 SV, but as it's a bit modern, have you checked that you can't configure trip A to reset after a refuel? That's what my car does, and it's quite useful ... but set in the options somewhere.
