PAIR modification
Hi all, sorry to drag this thread from the distant past but I have a question.
I was reading the thread by Chewy (is he still around here by the way?) - http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=56239 where it discusses removing the pair system etc. No problems with the description except that it mentions the use of a resistor. I presume that resistor is to join the two wires from the ECU that run to the PAIR solenoid but it doesnt say this and also doesnt mention the value of resistor required. Can anybody shed any light on this for me? ta. |

Kool not seen them, i quite liked the popping on overun when i had my sv whats the advantages of removing it? just save abit of weight and tidy it up abit?

to be honest the main reason we tried to disable this this evening was to try and get sensible readings on my mates dyno. When the PAIR system is sucking fresh air into the exhaust chamber it gives false lean readings.
So then got to thinking what possible purpose it has on a race bike, none is my guess. So for a pretty simple mod you can simply get rid of it. Chewy suggests keeping the reed valves in place as they have a gasket built in, but then covering the gap over with these plates, blocking off the airbox hole left by the PAIR solenoid and then putting a 10K resistor across the wires to the ECU. |

Ahh rite yeah of course it would do yeah! like you say it has no place on a racebike. What sort of power where you getting on the dyno mike?

Blocking off the tubes does pretty much the same thing, removing it simply tidies everything up nicely.
We didnt do any fuelling optimisation due to the sensor problem we had on the dyno but its currently giving 73bhp at the rear wheel so not bad really. Pretty strong motor. Torque was impressive too. |
