Brake bleeder
I picked up one of these from the local shop the other day...
http://www.motrax.co.uk/index.php?pa...roduct_id=1639 ... it thought it was worth a go as it was only a tenner and bleeding the brakes is a really tedious job. It's bleeding marvellous :D put the back end of my bike together last night and the last job was bleeding the rear calliper. Took five minutes. Best tool i've bought recently. (I also spotted some speed bleed nipples on the M&P site which I guess do the same job.) |
Re: Brake bleeder
A mate of mine uses one and really rates it.

Fantastic wee gadget! Needs a longer tube though...

Re: Brake bleeder
What exactly is it?

Re: Brake bleeder
It's basically a one-way check valve. Has a little arrow marked on the body to show which direction fluid goes through it. You fit it to the bleed nipple, release the bleed nipple, then just pump the brake lever. The gadget has a spring loaded ball or similar inside with the spring pushing it against a sealing face against the direction of flow. So when you pump the lever the fluid forces the ball against the spring and allows fluid to flow out, but as soon as you release the lever the ball is pushed back against the sealing face in the gadget and prevents fluid/air being drawn back in to the calliper. Just pump away until all the air/old fluid is out the calliper and then tighten up the bleed nipple. Job done.
