Sputter at high RPMs
My bike is sputtering at higher RPMs (7,000 or so). I stored my bike with the gas tank full over the winter (a long one, Nov - May) and I think I gummed up the carburetor. So I took the air box off and sprayed the carburetor directly with carburetor cleaner. After the engine went back to idling normally (it bogged down from the carburetor cleaner) I throttled it back up and it was still sputtering at the same spot. Gummed fuel lines maybe? I'm curious what you all think. Any help is much appreciated.

Carp in main jet or a sticky needle

Re: Sputter at high RPMs
Thank you for the help. Do you think running a tank of carburetor cleaner through the system will give it a good chance of cleaning up the gunk/unsticking the jet?

Re: Sputter at high RPMs
Assume its a carb model?
Have you checked the choke plungers and cables? They stick and can cause rough running. |
Re: Sputter at high RPMs
That seems to affect low rather than high rpm, but it's worth a go.
Carb cleaner additives and so on I've not got any experience of. Worth a go perhaps. |
