Trouble replacing pointy screen

Just got a new screen for my pointy, having trouble getting the old one off.

The Haynes manual says "remove the well nuts" and shows a picture of some cylindrical nuts with a flange sitting proud of the faring popping out.

On my bike there's just like a rubber flange coming out of the holes were the screws went and I've pulled on these with close to the force I reckon before they will snap, are these supposed to pop out and pull the well nuts with them or something?

I found them very difficult to pull through - you can usually take the screen out with them in place. It can help to take the mirrors off as it loosens the front fairing.

Putting them back is a bugger tho.....

Don't try and pull the screen away without removing the rubber bungs. The screen has holes which the bungs go through. Have you removed the two screws from the top of the fairing.
Keep trying to pull the bungs out, they will come out. If it is proving difficult screw something into the bung, not too far, just enough to catch then use some pliers to pull at them.
Getting them back in is a piece of wee. Just drop them in a cup of hot water as you are positioning the new screen and they will be nice and supple for putting back in.

I removed my front end off the bike and fitted the all including the screen in about 15mins.

I just found the screen to come off easily, i think i removed the rubber bungs.

+1 the hot water trick works a treat, as for getting them out I used a pair of needle nose pliers and grabbed as much rubber as I could, tease it out from side to side and it should come out.
this is the trickiest bit, once you have it sorted you will be well away :)
