Clunk

I was changing the oil and filter today, so had the fairings off, and I noticed the R and G mount was a little squint. Must of been when I came off a few months ago.

So once the oil was done I started undoing the bent bolt. It's not the one that goes right through the engine, it just goes in a little. As I was undoing it there was a clunk noise:o Looks like the engine has dropped down a little, out of alignment with where the bolt goes.

So when the new bolts arrive, any idea how to get it back in? Jack the engine up?

Did you see the engine drop?

Re: Clunk

No I just assumed it had because the bolt holes don't line up anymore

So you have taken the bolt out, well that one bolt shouldn't drop the engine as there are a few more holding it up.

Does the bolt go back in, if not then a jack under the sump will lift the engine but be careful as it will also lift the entire bike!

The bolt didn't seem to want to screw back in but I didn't try to hard because it is bent

Re: Clunk

Looks like the spacer moved because the bolt was bent, not the engine!

Ahh that would be better:D

Stick you hand in there and see if you can move the spacer a bit, or align it with a screw driver down the hole.

Are you planning on using the bike before a replacement bolt arrives?

No the bike is away for the winter now. Too salty

It was stiff at first but it did move with a screwdriver. {PHEW!}

Okay then, wait for the new bolt and put it in. Thought you would be relieved.
