wet visor issues?
 

Ok folks. Another day another question. After all your help with me getting onto a motorway im back for some more advice.

When riding in the rain I don’t have a problem with getting wet etc. Or if its normal rain it doesn’t seem to pose a problem. However last night when I rode home the rain was that fine misting stuff that gets you wet. I was at town speeds so the water was effectively clinging to my visor. I keep my visor spotless (use a pentax microfiber cloth to clean it before I set out every time) but it made visibility pretty poor to say the least. Now luckily ive got an mg so am used to not having wipers but this want much fun so any tips on riding in conditions like this? Im imagining fog is the same?

Easy solution, go to Hein Gericke and buy some of their visor wipes, it is made of rubber. I wear it on my thumb and all it takes is a simple swish with your clutch lever hand and the visor clears.

would that not scratch your visor if you had salt on it for example?

Hasn't done with mine yet and I have usewd it all last winter and this year whilst it has rained. I guess that would only really be an issue if you were trying to use when the visor was drying.

I use this one, no scratches. You can also get some new gloves with an "integrated" wiper.

+1 I use them too. You get 2 in a packet for 4 quid. Bit like a mini bit of wiper blade. Only thing is they can sometimes pop off your glove when getting off the bike (I've found 2 of mine outside my office door a few times).

They do work well. Asside from that the only other thing I do is check the metoffice.gov.uk bit for my local area (and surrounding area's to get a wider forecast of what's what)...

whack it on your favourites or set it as your homepage - I check mine about 4 times a day to see the changes. Also, metcheck.com and the bbc weather. Between the 3 of 'em you'll suss what's happening

+1 to weather forecasting...lol.....always looking at them. Those V-Wipes are the same as the Hein Gericke ones I think. Quite easy to split so always put the on the glove and in position before putting hand inside.

Thin smear of neat washing up liguid causes the water to collect and run-off. Works a treat. Is a really really thin smear which you then almost completely wipe off. Works like rain-ex but much cheaper. Keep a bit of liguid on your bike somewhere too in case you need to reapply. Nice lemon/peach/arctic fresh/ smell too depending on your choice of liquid. Great white-afro comedy helmet hair if you apply too much.

Yeah YC has a pair of Halvarssons with a wiper, always using it, seems to do the trick. +1 about the washing up liquid too, definitely helps.

Polish a water repellant product on to the visor, there are many to choose from.
