Sticking throttle
my throttle is sticking on my curvy, any ideas how to resolve
|
Re: Sticking throttle
In no particular order:
Cable adjustment, (too tight), cable routing, (bends too sharp), cable damage, (kinks, lack of lubrication), twistgrip sticking, twistgrip rubber fouling on bar end/throttle housing, carb/throttle body linkage/s sticking, carb/throttle body spindle/s sticking. So, no, not really. But there's a few ideas. |
Re: Sticking throttle
how do i lubricate the cable and the throttle assembly?

Re: Sticking throttle
just had the same problem.mypost is about 4 down on page4
i started by disassembling the rhs switch gear,2 screws underneath.sprayed a bit wd down the tubes. This didnt solve it for me so followed the cables down to the carb behind the radiator.I found it easier to gain access to both carbs by lifting the tank and popping the air filter off to get to them.disconnected the cable then took the mechanism apart .cleaned ,greased and put back together. Took me about 2 hrs but that was just cos it was the first time id ever seen the carbs let alone took em apart. If ur a noob like me its Not as scary as you might think.Just take a pic of eveythin b4 u take them apart then u cant go wrong. this sorted it for me hope it helps u. |

Ah brilliant, i will give this a go in the morning then, do you have any pictures of the mechanism you took apart? what did you grease it up with wd ? cheers |
Re: Sticking throttle
No use grease instead of WD.
If you lift your tank and action your throttle you will see the pully moving on the right hand side of the carbs. |
