Pointy rear lights pulsing.
Any ideas gents,
the first 3 bulbs on each side of my rear tail-lights flicker when idling, but are fine when I blip. The head-lights also seem to pulse until the throttle is applied, is it worth just changing the battery or should I start checking wiring first? what could cause both the front and rear to have a similar problemo? |
Re: Lights pulsing
dont all bikes do that.

Re: Lights pulsing
You could try uping the idle speed, might be a case that it's idling too low on the revs so not enough power is consistantly coming from the alternator which could cause the lights to flicker.

Re: Lights pulsing
Sounds like an LED light on the back? If so I would check the connections on it as they may be loose. As for the front light they all do that so don't worry.

Re: Lights pulsing
K3 tail lights degrade and you made need to replace the unit.
Mine do it too. The headlight... +1 for idle speed. Although you should expect it to be dimmer at tickover than whilst reving it - thats normal. |
Re: Lights pulsing
Finally got round to playing with the lights. Basically the idle speed was too low, increased it to the 1300 as suggested by the manual and the rear lights are honki-dori now. It was strange that only part of the tail light strips were flickering but its sorted now
Thanks for the advice folks |
Re: Lights pulsing
K3 and K4 light units seem to have this - next step is for the LEDS to fail completely I believe.
Seems to not be an issue on later models tho. |
Re: Lights pulsing
Hey Parker, I have exactly the same problem ( and age and colour bike as it goes). All my lights including the dash pulse at tickover. It takes over 2500rpm to get them to level out. I think it's down to a dying reg/rectifier. haven't attempted a fix yet but i will report back when i do.

Re: Lights pulsing
Seems standard on all SV's I've encountered. Don't forget that the wiring on these bikes is as cheese-tastic as all the nuts and bolts. A true economy bike if ever there was one!
