Expansion Chamber...Coolant not Draining
I have carried out a search of this, and found a simular post, but not the problem I am experiencing.

When I do this, the water just fills straight to the top of the expansion tank, and does not come out of the hose at the bottom. Could the hose be blocked at the bottom of the chamber? |
Re: Expansion Chamber...Coolant not Draining
Yes it could be blocked/kinked. You have taken small hose off radiator neck right?

Re: Expansion Chamber...Coolant not Draining
Yes I have yc, it's point 13 in this link http://forum.svrider.com/showthread.php?t=54075 I don't get anything draining from here.
If I pour water into the chamber would expect it to run out of this hose. No kinks in the hose at the lower end. |
Re: Expansion Chamber...Coolant not Draining
Blow into the hose (don't get a gobful of coolant, it's nasty)
Might be kinked at the bottom of expansion tank. |
Re: Expansion Chamber...Coolant not Draining
Oh yeah regarding that writeup. I've always found it far easier to avoid fishing around in the drain pan by the simple expedient of not dropping the drain plug in there.

Re: Expansion Chamber...Coolant not Draining
disconnect hose from bottle and clean hole in it, it gets clogged like yorkie said.

Will double check the hose in the morning, and look to taking the hose off to see if it is blocked with old coolant. |
Re: Expansion Chamber...Coolant not Draining
It's some wierd white crap that accumulates. I haven't had a problem with it since using OAT coolant diluted with distilled water, presume previous owner of mine used hard water. (think scale on kettle) as it turned the expansion tank white also.

yc, right once more, managed to unblock with a nail, and now I have filled up with new fluid. Thanks again.
