Braided Lines - Are they worth it?
|
Re: Braided Lines - Are they worth it?
Much depends on where you're coming from really, on a fairly new bike the OEM lines will be fine, and given you have a sports bike probably more than fine, I'd wager your choice of pads would make more difference to brake "feel" than the lines themselves.
However, braided lines don't suffer the same as OEM rubber ones in the longer term as the rubber tends to "give a little" over time requiring more lever travel and can make them feel a little "spongy". In order to address your question I'd need to know if A.) you have a problem B.) you just want general info C.) you're just looking to add something to the bike (a bit of bling) D.) you heard someone say you should have them If A.) so what's the problem ? If B.) see above If C.) get some from busters of somewhere like that they'll make them to order with any fixings you want and coat them to colour match your bike to, and for less money. If D.) your bikes not old enough to warrent replacing them, so don't worry about it. Cheers Mark. |

Beware of earls lines, mine came and the sizes were way off. They dealt with it well but just don't expect to throw them straight on and you'll be reet.

If replacing old, yes.

Re: Braided Lines - Are they worth it?
I replaced my brake lines (9 years old at this point) with braided ones. It helped, but a month or two later i overhauled the calipers (strip, clean, grease, reassemble). And that gave the best improvment.

From my experience it will make the lever a little firmer and that's about it. That's based on trying both options on my cbr and my 750 (in the case of the 750, I was comparing against my mate's year-older 600 with braided lines).
