Turn key...nothing happens

Hi all (I did try searching first...no joy!)

I've got a 2004 pointy which is completely original apart from LED indicators.

I noticed a couple of days ago my alarm kept going off, nothing seemed unusual, re-armed it with no problem.

Got to get on it this evening turn the key...nothing! No noise, lights...NOTHING! Checked the battery which is fine.

Any ideas people, could this be related to the alarm?

Any input appreciated!

Cheers, Ian

Could be the alarm, or could be the connectors behind the headstock. Check the green one for signs of arcing - it may be the culprit.

Check the main fuse, not to sure where it is in a pointy though...

watch out. If your battery is run completely dead as a dodo as anyone on the washed out rideout to Barnstaple that gid's bike battery was killed off from his alarm so bad no lights or anything. Try jump starting off something else first if the alarm has been playing up.

IIRC haven't there been reported issues with the ignition barrel connections on SVs?

mine does that occasionally..... but my problem is resolved by moving the handlebars side to side, then it will come to life as normal. I posted a thing on this but no1 seemed to have any idea why it happens

In your case I really would recommend checking the green plug behind the headstock - it's exactly the same symptoms as mine (K3). Next time it happens, wiggle the wire that goes from the ignition barrel into the frame on the right - you may find it remakes the connection.
