Which interval service is it? This will change what you need to buy.
A 4000 service is pretty straightforward. Oil & filter is generally all you need. Everything else is checks and adjustment. For an 8000, add plugs to the list, for 12000 add air filter. Anything else that's needed you'll find when you do the service. Most other things you might need like brake pads/fluid aren't due on specific mileages, and should be checked but replaced 'as and when' sort of thing. Do you have any error codes from the FI system? |

You can get an error code from the ECU by putting the bike into service mode. You're meant to use a 'dealer switch' but it's essentially a piece of wire. At the rear of the bike, under the pillion seat, is a connector that if you short will place the bike into dealer mode. The dash will then display the last error code, if any. Look the code up in a Haynes manual or the net to find out what part is potentially playing up.
Look here: http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=55459 for info on how to activate dealer mode. Don't worry about lifting the tank of setting the idle speed, just connect the terminals and ignition on. |
