Oil pressure problem, maybe.
I through a rod in my sv650 / 2001. I opened it up and replaced the crank, rods and bearings all OEM suzuki. Everything went together fine. It ran great for about 2 hours. I put about .5 extra of a qt. of oil in when I rebuilt it. I am not sure about happened but I am hearing a little knock at about 4000 rpm's. Idle and reving in nutural sounds good but when you ride it and get up in the rpm's it sound like a faint knock. I didn't replace the oil pump, I should of but
I 'm not sure if thats the problem. Any help would be very cool. First time on the site, thanks. |
Re: Oil pressure problem, maybe.....
Bloody hell the crank and rods must have cost you. Over £1k?
Race or road? Depends what caused it to throw the rod, if it was big end failure it could have put fine metal chips through oil pump. I would oil pressure test it. |

It's a road bike and it did cost a lot. I cleaned very, very well. it was the big end that failed. |
Re: Oil pressure problem, maybe.....
Maybe oil pump was damaged then. Both motors I have here with failed big ends have lots of metallic sludge in cases from bearing shells.
