Lights - Headlight to be precise.

Hey SV'ers,

So have been riding my SV650 K2 for about a week now and LOVE IT!!!, but unfortunatly my Main beam doesnt seem to work right (Im not exactly sure what the specific terms are but here we go)

The smaller bulb works perfect comes on, doesnt exactly light up anything BUT it does come on, as for the main beam it will turn on when I press the Pass button, but if I turn it on properly at the switch, it doesnt turn on, so atm I cant ride in the dark (bad times), have checked the fuses they are all fine, have opened up the switch and everything looks fine and dandy everythign touches and connects as it should, so what else could it be?????:help:

could be a break in the wire somwhere in the loom, have a look where the wires look most stressed ie near the stem. only thing i can think of unfortunately! other than that, although it looks ok, the switch might just be dead

Yep sounds like a broken wire to your dip beam.
Only thing is I'm not sure of the best places to look on the Pointy SV?

Ok so main beam works, have you checked the bulb?

Have you tried lights on (RHS switch all the way across), High beam on (LHS switch)?

If that works then likely LHS switch or wiring to bulb, if that doesn't work then likely RHS switch or wiring.

Cheers lads (or ladettes if the case maybe), once I get home I shall reinvestigate and see if I can find the cause of the bugger :):sunny:

The pass button will activate the high beam, so your high beam is working fine, with the lights on try putting the high beam on at the main switch.

The bulbs on the SV are H4's which are twin fillament, it could be that both main beam filaments in the bulbs could of blown, take the bulbs out and have a quick look or if you have any spare h4 bulbs or know of any one with some spare laying around try switching them over.

Hopefully i have read your post right and that helps a little

I bet you an entire scottish pound that the switchgear plug block is broken... Nice easy fix to bypass it if it is though.
