What kind of chain lube do you use offroad?
Off roaders, greenlaners and crossers, what kind of chain lube do you use off road?
And does it depend on the type of off roading, mud/sand/rock etc? Does ordinary chain lube work ok? |
Re: What kind of chain lube do you use offroad?
I use a decent o ring chain and synthetic dry lube.
Just look after it as you would on your road bike. |
Re: What kind of chain lube do you use offroad?
Dry lube could be a good call in the sand, do you reckon it's less sticky than traditional stuff and cause less sand to stick to the chain?

I started using dry lube years ago on mountain bikes and just carried it onto the dirt bikes too. The other thing I use is a chain wax, slightly thicker but better if the going gets really wet. |

I use some Putoline spray chain lube.
After every race take the chain off and clean the sprockets, chain and everything round there, we used to do it anyway. |

A lot of 20W50 through an oiler. Terrain is all of the above. Cheers

Gear oil.

old gear oil from the bike!!! why waist money on chain lube!! oh and clean and reoil after every ride!

Re: What kind of chain lube do you use offroad?
clumps of sand on the chain from used engine oil can cause the chain to slip when racing so you need something that wont stick the sand to chain is useful.
