Curvy or pointy?

If it's a curvy[1] its a fuel pump.

Just incase you are looking for a fuel tap on the SV, there isnt one :D It'll just start blinking an orang elight at you when you have used 13 litres of fuel, and when you have a litre left the orange light will stay on. At which point you panic and pray there is a petrol station in the next 9-11 miles

Listen to the welsh one, it is vacuum operated fuel pump (I think because carbs are higher than low point of tank). There is vacuum op petcock on the tank too.
