regulator/rectifier modifying?

the reg/rec fried the battery on the sv a few weeks back, i've had a little browse on ebay, and the only ones for the curvy are £70 plus, but you can buy them for the pointy for £30,

do they have the same number of wires into them and can i just cut and solder the old terminal onto the newer reg/rec? sounds a pain, but £40 is £40, new battery

Read this thinking you'd got a flat tyre in the forest and was wondering how you sorted it. Oh well.

Plenty of info here http://eviltwinsbk.com/forumz/index.php?topic=276.0.

Re: regulator/rectifier modifying?

I fitted a CBR one which uses mosfets instead of FETs which are better. It also has better charging than OEM. There are a few hints on how to install this on svrider.com I'd also ask Northy here who knows a thing or two. I've also changed the OEM wiring which was way too thin causing current drop. My system is much better now, bonus is better headlight and better ignition.
