Tube to extend front carb nipple
I intend to have the radiator off the bike this weekend and would like to take the opportunity to attach some tubing to the the front carb for future balancing.
Problem is, I don't know what sort/size of tube to get and where I would go for such a thing. Thanks in advance |
Re: Tube to extend front carb nipple
Same stuff as comes on carb balancers, motor factors? Vacuum pipe will work but the stuff for cars tends to be massive.

Re: Tube to extend front carb nipple
I've used washer tubing before.
Of course I can't recall of the top of my head what size the nipple is for the SV. Druid |
Re: Tube to extend front carb nipple
I might have this wrong but i'm sure I read somewhere about someone using the tube from a scottoiler bottle?

Re: Tube to extend front carb nipple
Pretty certain it's 6mm tubing you need. I did mine with tube sold at a local hardware store. Plugged the end with a plastic numberplate screw, which works a treat.

Re: Tube to extend front carb nipple
Can somebody confirm that 6mm is the correct size? Calling in at B&Q on way home for other DIY related stuff thought I'd get some tubing whilst I'm there.

Re: Tube to extend front carb nipple
I eventually used the larger of the two sizes of clear windscreen washer tube that halfords have. I had to soften it in hot water and stretch the end with a screw driver a little though.

Re: Tube to extend front carb nipple
Easy trick for tubing, put it on floor and bash it repeatedly with a hammer. The flexing warms the rubber and you don't have to boil the kettle. Once it is on, it is not moving easily though.
